Why Study Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Have you ever sought a healthier and younger appearance without the need for surgery or heavy cosmetics? Or want to help others achieve a similar result without harmful substances or side effects? If so, Cosmetic Acupuncture Training may provide the perfect solution.

Learning Cosmetic Acupuncture not only gives students the opportunity to learn skills that help to reduce the signs of ageing, but also to further their knowledge and acquire skills which provide the basis for treatments and also improve students’ understanding of TCM principles. The application of these skills are both exciting and rewarding, especially since patients complexion can be visibly improved after just the first session.

Unlike plastic surgery, no operations or chemical injections are involved. Cosmetic Acupuncture is a simple, safe and effective treatment for anti ageing and facial enhancement that has been in existence for thousands of years in Ancient China. Although this was kept only within royal circles, it is now widely available to everyone. Cosmetic Acupuncture is highly evidence based with the science of it being continually researched, recorded and improved.

Our 3-day intensive training course has a strong focus on practical skills, with all treatments underpinned by TCM theories and diagnosis methods. Classes are kept small for a high student/tutor ratio, with the tutor present at all times enabling all participants to be supported & assessed throughout the course in order to deliver competent, safe and effective treatment for patients.

The Benefits of Cosmetic Acupuncture

Where ordinary facial cleansing, toning and facial masks leave patients feeling relaxed with a glowing complexion after their session, these results often are not stable. These effects usually diminish after just one day. Cosmetic Acupuncture however works on the principle of not only improving the appearance, but also addresses the imbalances in order for the inner health to shine through.

By needling the relevant points on the body, a person’s constitution can be rebalanced effectively. Together with diet and healthy lifestyle advice, the patient’s wellbeing can continue to be improved and maintained. Furthermore, needle emphasis on the face will trigger the body’s immune function; thereby prompting increased blood flow and nutrients to the area, promoting collagen production. Finishing off with a facial cleansing and massage brings a healthier glow and a radiant look with lasting results.

Q1. What is Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Cosmetic Acupuncture is a method of facial enhancing acupuncture treatment offering non-surgical skin rejuvenation. It helps to delay and prevent the aging process through promoting Blood and Energy circulation to the face bringing a healthy glow to the complexion, and at the same time detoxifying, relaxing and toning facial muscles to achieve a more youthful appearance.

Q2. Benefits of Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Cosmetic Acupuncture is natural, non-invasive and free from side effects. The greatest benefit of cosmetic acupuncture is not only just about how you look, but also about how you feel inside and your overall sense of well being portrayed on the outside. All treatments we practice here at CT Clinic are underpinned by the Traditional Chinese Medicine Principle emphasizing holistic balance of the spirit, mind and body: you will find yourself in a much more positive state and revitalized as your healthier natural beauty shines through.

Q3. How does Cosmetic Acupuncture work?

Cosmetic Acupuncture is a very simple and safe form of therapy administered by inserting very fine needles into strategic points on the body along the different meridians, pathways of energy; with focus on the face. It can stimulate the collagen production to help restructuring; tightening the skin while clearing the stagnation of energy and re-establishing the balance of the organs, promoting a natural healing response and restoring well being. All our acupuncture needles are sterilized, single use and disposable.

Q4. Does Cosmetic Acupuncture Hurt?

It is very unlikely to cause any pain, as the Cosmetic Acupuncture needles are extremely fine; even thinner than normal acupuncture needles. Occasionally some patients may experience very slight discomfort, which can be quickly and easily adjusted. Most of our patients feel the pleasant sensations of tingling, tightening and a warm energy flow around the face during the session, and such responses are desirable as they indicate the effectiveness of the treatments. The overall effects after Cosmetic Acupuncture sessions are very relaxing and therapeutic.

Q5. What does a Cosmetic Acupuncture session entail?

A Cosmetic Acupuncture session involves a Traditional Chinese Medicine Consultation. Our practitioners will discuss your goals and medical histories along with your daily lifestyles and diets. The next step is the insertion of extra fine needles, which need to be retained for 30 minutes. The acupuncture points being selected for needling have the effects of harmonizing and improving the metabolism promoting greater immunity in order to produce good healing results. After removal of the needles, facial cleansing and exfoliating will be incorporated with gentle massage to promote more energy flow to the face, you will feel more refreshed as the stress and tension fade away. The herbal supplements in capsule form are usually prescribed at the end of the session ensuring the continuous benefit of facial acupuncture between treatment sessions. Close up photos are also taken when required as a record of the treatment progress.

Q6. How long does each session last?

You will need to allow 1.5 - 2 hours for the initial session. The subsequent sessions will be approximately 1 hour depending on the area of focus.

Q7. How many sessions are required?

It is very much dependent on the individual as we all differ in structures, constitutions, lead different lifestyles and have varying diets. The recommended treatment course would be 10-15 sessions over a 2-3 month period.

Q8. How long will the results last?

It can last between 2-3 years with adherence to good health practice. It is possible to have maintenance treatments periodically to prolong the results. Patients will be provided with healthy lifestyle information on the 1st day of treatment.

Q9. Can anybody have Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Cosmetic Acupuncture can benefit both men and women, however it is not suitable for everyone. There are instances where pre-existing conditions need to be treated first before cosmetic acupuncture can be performed. For example, patients with severe skin infections, abscesses and ulcers will be advised to address these conditions first. Cosmetic Acupuncture is also not recommended during pregnancy except for medical conditions. Please contact our practitioners for more information.
